iPhoto Batch Enhancer Version 1.x

Presenting iPhoto Batch Enhancer!

Finally no more sore fingers if you want to enhance newly imported photos within iPhoto! Simply drag pictures from iPhoto onto iPhoto Batch Enhancer and immediately all of them are treated to a previously selected built in iPhoto effect: Enhance, Black & White or Sepia.
I wrote this software for myself and use it on a regular basis, so it should be working correctly. As I'm doing this in my spare time, you get the software "as is". If you should have any problems or questions, please contact me and I'll try to answer as soon as possible.

How do I install the software?

Simply drag iPhoto Batch Enhancer onto your hard disk. Before using it you have to mark the Checkbox "Enable access for assistive devices" within "System Preferences" under "System / Universal Access". This is necessary because iPhoto Batch Enhancer uses GUI-Scripting integrated in Mac OS X 10.3/10.4.
In order to use it under Mac OS X 10.2 "Jaguar", the beta-software "GUI-Scripting" must be installed. Unfortunately, Apple no longer offers it as a download. Therefore and because of many other enhancements, I do recommend upgrading to to Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger".

How does it work?

After double clicking on iPhoto Batch Enhancer, you should choose the mode of operation: Enhance pictures, transformation into black-white or sepia-mode. The latter is only available in iPhoto 4 and higher. Please note that the mode of operation can only be changed if iPhoto Batch Enhancer is stored on a writable volume.
To convert images simply drag a selection of pictures from iPhoto onto the iPhoto Batch Enhancer icon. They will be updated one after another in iPhoto. Whilst converting images iPhoto Batch Enhancer can be quit anytime using Command-Q.

What else do I need to know?

iPhoto retains a backup copy of any modified picture. The advantage is that you can revert to the original picture using the menu option "File/Photos > Revert to original". The disadvantage is that the backup copies do increase the storage space for the iPhoto library. If you are satisfied with the results and have no need to revert to the original photo, you can remove the original versions using the program "iPhoto Diet" which can be found on www.versiontracker.com.

What are the system requirements?

iPhoto version 2 is the oldest supported version, yet versions 4.x and higher proved to be more stable in my tests. The program has been tested with Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger" but should work with older versions of Mac OS X 10 as well.

Known problems

After importing many photos and/or when using large photo libraries the error "NSReceiverEvaluationScriptError: 4" comes up. This error is not reproducible and at the moment the only remedy is to restart iPhoto.
