9/9/2018 - Bye bye iPhoto Batch Enhancer!
The imminent release of macOS Mojave also brings an end to 14 exciting years for iPhoto Batch Enhancer! After its initial release in 2004 two major releases followed in 2006 and 2009. Every year saw updates to keep iPhoto Batch Enhancer working with new releases of iPhoto and Mac OS X, up until the current macOS High Sierra.

As of now iPhoto itself hasn't been updated by Apple since 2014 and there's not many current users left. If you still want to keep using iPhoto Batch Enhancer with iPhoto you can now do so for free! Of course this comes with the usual caveats: There will be no longer support for iPhoto Batch Enhancer, so if you encounter any problems, we won't be able to help you.

So what happens next? Our solution for the Photos App is still in development and it sort of works with macOS Sierra, partially with macOS High Sierra and not yet with macOS Mojave. So there's still a lot to do, until a first beta version can be made available. Please stay tuned on this website for new developments!

Most importantly thanks to everybody who participated on our journey with iPhoto Batch Enhancer, who supported us and shared their enthusiasm! Without you the journey would have been shorter and not as joyful!

RIP iPhoto, Hello Photos!
Today Apple released Photos as replacement for their iPhoto and Aperture Apps. As of now iPhoto cannot be purchased in the Mac App Store. If you already have it in your list of purchases, you can still install it from there.
iPhoto Batch Enhancer still works with iPhoto, but is not compatible with the new Photos App. Photos has been developed by Apple completely from scratch and so feroXsoft is developing a completely new successor to iPhoto Batch Enhancer. Further Informationen will be posted here on the feroXsoft website. Stay tuned!

10/14/2012
iPhoto Batch Enhancer 3.5.1 is the latest version and contains some important bug fixes. In addition to that this version adds compatibility with OS X 10.7 'Lion' and later!
Since this version still requires iPhoto 8 or later the previous version iPhoto Batch Enhancer 3.1.6 will not suggest an automatic update. Please download the new version manually, if you meet the new requirements!
7/25/2012
The new iPhoto Batch Enhancer 3.5 is built exclusively for OS X 10.8 "Mountain Lion". And again this update is free for all users with a full license!
Since a lot had to be changed under the hood, the new version only supports iPhoto 8 or later. Therefore it has been removed from automatic updates so no one with an older iPhoto version loses a working environment. The previous version 3.1.6 will be available for download in the future.
Any further changes?
  • Where possible iPhoto Batch Enhancer 3.5 has been updated for retina screens.
  • The new version has been signed with an Apple certified Developer ID, so it plays nice with the new "Gatekeeper" in OS X 10.8 "Mountain Lion".
  • Finally the startup screen has been cleaned up!
  • ...and the website has received a little refresh as well (fewer helper images, more CSS and more retina beauty)!
6/12/2012
The new iPhoto Batch Enhancer 3.1.6 is ready for download. Scripts are enabled again for the new iPhoto 9.3.1 since Apple has fixed the bug that could cause data loss in iPhoto 9.3.
By the way: Preparations for OS X 10.8 "Mountain Lion" are progressing nicely - on the (yet unknown) release day a new version of iPhoto Batch Enhancer will be ready.
6/27/2012
The new iPhoto Batch Enhancer 3.1.5 works with iPhoto 9.3. There are two changes you should be aware of:
  • The new version of iPhoto won't let you edit a photo after it has been edited outside of iPhoto (e.g. when using another image editing software or after using iPhoto Batch Enhancer's scripts). Instead it will display a message and lets you duplicate this photo. When encountering such a photo iPhoto Batch Enhancer will let iPhoto create a duplicate and will continue working with that copy.
  • When initiating external editing of a photo, which has been changed externally before with a previous version of iPhoto, iPhoto 9.3 has a problem: It sends the path of the original photo to the external editor. When you finish modifying the photo it won't be reflected in iPhoto's thumbnail. If you later decide to revert to the original, iPhoto will delete the backup and present the latest modified version of the photo as the original version. I have already filed a bug with Apple abaut this behavior.
Since this leads to data loss, I have decided to disable scripts in iPhoto Batch Enhancer for now. I might come up with a more sophisticated approach, but right now I think it's more important to get this update out so the more popular options are available again to users of iPhoto Batch Enhancer who have installed the iPhoto 9.3 update.
Important: If you receive a message 'Error Updating! The update is improperly signed.' after clicking on 'Install Update' please dowmload the update directly from this website.
6/12/2012
The new iPhoto 9.3, released on "WWDC 2012", doesn't work with the current release of iPhoto Batch Enhancer! I am looking into the problem right now and hope to have a new version ready real soon.
4/1/2012
Still no april fools joke - iPhoto Batch Enhancer 3.1.3 fixes a bug concerning OS X 10.7 "Lion" and iPhoto 9 and is superseded by iPhoto Batch Enhancer 3.1.4 which fixes a bug with autoupdate and includes our updated license agreement due to our new home in Munich.

8/7/2011
iPhoto Batch Enhancer 3.1.2 fixes some bugs concerning OS X 10.7 "Lion" and iPhoto 9.
Important: From now on support is only available for using iPhoto Batch Enhancer with OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard' or OS X 10.7 'Lion' as we don't have the space for other Macintosh configurations. Running the software on older OS versions on Intel or PowerPC-based systems will continue to work, although we won't be able to actively check that for future releases.
6/26/2011
iPhoto Batch Enhancer 3.1.1 is ready for OS X 10.7 "Lion" and features several important bug fixes. Thanks for all the error reports concerning the error message 'Can't make <class ipth> of <class ipal> id 1.2345678E+9 of application \"iPhoto\" into type Unicode text.'!

11/7/2010
iPhoto Batch Enhancer 3.0.8 is fully compatible with iPhoto 9 (from iLife '11) and can be downloaded now. Apart from problem fixes it includes the following changes for the new iPhoto version:
  • iPhoto 9 only registers changes in its internal clipboard of adjust values when being restarted - that's the reason why iPhoto 9 restarts more often while iPhoto Batch Enhancer is applying Snapshots.
  • Photos are being duplicated in iPhoto 9 prior to external editing. To aid in differentiating the two copies iPhoto Batch Enhancer assigns the following keywords:
    • Original (IBE) for the original photo
    • Copy (IBE) for the new copy
Since duplication in iPhoto also copies all assigned keywords the new copy may also have the keyword Original (IBE) assigned to it.
  • In addition iPhoto Batch Enhancer adds original and duplicate photo to the following albums (if activated in the preferences):
    • iPhoto Batch Enhancer - Originals
    • iPhoto Batch Enhancer - Copies
  • When a photo is being edited in iPhoto 9 and a single Snapshot is being applied the black, gamma and white values are ignored. Applying them would need a restart of iPhoto, which in turn would save all current changes to that photo.
  • iPhoto Batch Enhancer's core funtionality had to be altered to make it work with iPhoto 9. Although I have tested it with many combinations of older iPhoto versions with different versions of OS X there still might be some rough edges. Please do not hesitate to send an error report when you encounter one of those!
Enjoy the new version!
10/24/2010
